In the post Abandoned I mentioned that a number of people have told me lately that they refuse to participate in the current recession. That started me to thinking, how can I not participate. I am tired of drawing unemployment checks and I cannot afford to go to work for McDonald's, there is no way at 53 years of age I can meet my obligations for what they pay.
So what is the answer.
I have been working odd jobs and so far have been able to stay afloat but I cannot keep going this way. Doom and gloom is in the forecast if something does not change.
I have been trying to figure out how to make money on the Internet, seems like a good idea to me, billions of dollars are being spent on the Internet I just need to figure out how to get a very small portion of that. I have bought the kits that promise to teach me how to make a fortune on the Internet and it has cost me thousands of dollars but so far the promised fortune has not materialized. But I have learned a lot, as always there is not free lunch out there. You are not going to make a pile of money working 5 hours a week!
One thing I have learned is that it cost money to run a web site. As with any business there are fees at every turn. You have to pay fees to except credit cards and have the money go into your bank account. PayPal works and is a very good way for you to pay for products and services on the Internet especially if you use their keyfob but you still need a service to except credit cards and have the money go straight into your checking account.
Then their is advertising, a web site with no traffic is not going to generate any money no matter how good the products and prices are. Advertising cost money, and can cost quit a bit if you want big results. Nothing happens on the Internet without lots of traffic.
Working from home is a big trend right now and very appealing but you have to find something lucrative or you will expend a lot of energy and effort while you go broke. I have looked at anything and everything I can find in the hopes that sooner or later I will find the right fit for me. It does not matter how good or legitimate an opportunity is if you don't like it or don't want to do it you will not be successful. So what's a poor lad to do?
I recently found something that really trips my trigger, the next generation mobile phone service. It may not be for you but I am real excited about the potential. Unlimited service with not contracts or credit checks is nice but the international service is going to be a slam dunk. Imagine a business man being able to call Japan and have a 6 way conference call twice a week every week for as long as it takes, for only $89.95 per month. No body offers that kind of service right now.
To market this product you have to be a Global Verge associate. It cost $69.95 to sign up and $39.95 per month after that. I have 5 web sites set up ready to do business for only $39.95 per month. Take a look at my PC Hardware and More site, I don't even want to tell you how much it cost me to get my Seiko Watch Store going, and it cost a good bit more than $39.95 per month to keep it going.
Bottom line is I choose not to participate in the recession and this is my latest plan of attack. It may not be your cup of tea but, and you may have no interest in selling on the Internet but all I am saying is find something you can do from home, it may not replace your need for a job but it may very well help fill in the gaps, and it will keep you busy. For your sanity you have to stay busy.

I am just finding out that craigslist post jobs in the area you live in. I found a couple of people looking for someone to do odd jobs.
I highly recommend that anyone currently unemployed seek out any kind of odd jobs you are capable of doing.
Watching TV all day and collecting unemployment is not going to cut it, besides you will go nuts after awhile if you do not stay busy doing something while you look for a real job.

Abandoned
Sorry folks, I had all but abandoned this site but have decided to keep it going a little longer.
Being unemployed for so long is teaching me lessons I did not want to learn, but I am going to pass on the details here in the hope that others can avoid my mistakes.

Unmployment Scam
For those of us that are unemployed reading the Sunday want ads in the local paper is essential.
A company called Pro Resources is placing at least half of the jobs listed in the local news paper The Clarion Ledger in Jackson Mississippi.
I can't forget this one, Laborer Trainees will train $20+ per hour. Come on guys a training program for laborers, $20+ dollars an hour, not around here I'm sure of it.
Pro Resources is listing salaries that just do not match with this area, they are obvious come on ads. They require you to pay them $180 to access their Internet job bank. The lady claimed they were placing upward of 60 jobs per week.
On my previous job I was in charge of shipping and receiving and also did all of the purchasing as well as fielded all service and parts related calls. Those responsibilities required me to deal with a lot of vendors and suppliers freight companies and so on. I think I have a pretty good feel for what the market is like in the Jackson Mississippi area and I know they are blowing smoke.
People are desperate for jobs and many will pay the $180 dollars, may as well be buying a kit on the internet at least they want have to drive across town to get it. Shame on those people, what they are doing might be legal but it ain't right.

Aren't you sick of them I know I am that is what has motivated me to start a blog page, I have been trying to figure out how I can make a buck on the Internet. When you goggle Internet opportunities all you see is one scam after the other. Oh yeah you can make a hundred dollars an hour processing rebate coupons for Home Depot, Sony and the like and if you buy our kit we will tell you how, sure you will. Common sense tells me Sony isn't going to pay me $100 an hour for something they could get done in Bangladesh for a whole lot less. Kits to start your own web store and make zillions, kits to teach you how to advertise for the big boys and make big bucks. yeah yeah yeah
MLM on the Internet, get excited you buy your kit and you will love it so much you will just have to sell one just like it to all your friends and relatives. But can you make any money doing that, not unless you are a huckster which I am not.

Help unemployed Americans
There is nothing new here we all know the story, America is hurting, businesses are failing, good people are losing their jobs, homes, cars, retirement pensions, medical insurance.
I am becoming an expert on the subject for you see I am one of those people.
If you will indulge me for a minute I would like to briefly explain my situation and part of my solution.
I was gainfully employed as the parts manager by Duraco Inc. a company that manufactures pothole patchers and large emulsion storage tanks. Business had been good to Duraco for a number of years but the rising cost of steel, fuel and just about everything else was taking it's tole. Just as we have to plan for uncertain economic times in our personal lives the companies we work for have to do likewise. The company told us the economy was becoming unstable, business was slowing down and they had to prepare for uncertain times. We started seeing cutbacks, decreases in buying, and eventually personnel being laid off. I and several others got the ax. Ouch, but life goes on.
It is a scary time for the Bullard home but I am ready and able to work, God gave me a mind to think with and I intend use every means possible to stay on my feet. I have a plan that I believe is good for America and my family so here goes, are you ready.
Trickle down economics, and I don't mean giving trillions of dollars to failing banks and auto companies, I mean spending money wisely with healthy business in such a way as to help ourselves and the economy.
I urge you, yes plead with you to be a good American, do your part, save America, buy a book.
That's right you heard me buy a book, any book just buy a book. Do it now right here don't hesitate, click that banner and buy a book.
Why should I you ask?
Because it is good for America and the unemployed namely me.
We are all watching to much TV and for the most part it is a bunch of junk, mindless entertainment that will in no way make you a better person. A book on the other hand is good for the soul, it stimulates the mind, you can grow personally, spiritually, physically, financially, from the nuggets found in the reading of a good book.
But how does this help America and the unemployed, let me explain.

The authors that wrote those books benefit from your purchase and that helps keep the authors financial sound. The publishers that edit and print those books are able to keep their employees busy and publish even more books, then there is the paper company, the tree farms, agriculture suppliers, UPS, ink companies, yes sir those dollars trickle down in ways you never even thought of. Just think about what that little book you buy can do for our economy.
But what about the unemployed?
For one it helps keep employed people in all sorts of fields employed so our unemployment numbers will not continue to rise at such an obscene rate, a very good thing if you ask me. Helping stabilize one industry affects many others in a positive way. It is not rocket science it is common sense. At least one unemployed person will benefit from your book purchase, namely me, because if you click on the banner on this page and buy a book Amazon will reward me with a little cash and that enables me to pay my light bill and mortgage and so on. By me paying my bills the utility company has a reduced collection problem and they are able to continue to provide jobs and services to the good citizens in my community. The bank will not have to foreclose on my house and they can remain more solid as a mortgage lender, thereby providing more loans for good people in my community to buy the homes they need and desire. I will once again become a productive member of society because you have chosen to support our economy and buy a book.
The benefit to you is the enrichment of your mind and in so doing knowing that you have helped your country and a poor broke unemployed guy in Mississippi. Now don't you feel better already?
